Newport High School
Grades 9-12

It is the philosophy of the faculty, administration, board of education, and staff of Newport High School that all children can learn and that this institution exists for the benefit of its students. Our mission is to develop and nurture each student so that he or she can perform at his or her highest academic ability, develop creativity, individuality, and become a productive citizen. We will provide appropriate materials, which will enhance and give each student the opportunity for individuality and endeavor to provide a safe environment for learning to occur. With the support of our community and parents, Newport High School is committed to preparing students to become highly and productive members of society.

Computers and televisions are available for use throughout the school in many classrooms, with laptop computers available for checkout. Honor courses are offered in English, math, science and social studies, along with three foreign languages. Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered in Math and English. Newport High School's students scored higher on the state SATs than the state as a school year. Newport High School has been a member of North Central (NC) schools since1924.
